DOMAINE DE DURBAN
BEAUMES DE VENISE
Very sadly the elegant, charming and lovely Madame Leydier died last year. It was a delight to take tea with her every year at her fabulous property and then taste their wines with her Grandson Henri. Domaine de Durban must be one of the most gloriously situated estates in the whole of France. The property has a charming house with a panoramic view over the Ventoux in three different directions.
Mme Leydier’s son Henri makes their delicious vin doux from 25 hectares of 35-year-old vines of Muscat à petits grains, obtaining a yield which is never in excess of 30hl/ha. The grapes are harvested manually and after a long cold fermentation in tank, the wine is left on its fine lees for 4 to 5 months before bottling after a light filtration.
