SAINT JULIEN

Branaire has made remarkable progress over the last twenty years. In 1991 they were first to install a state of the art chai moving the wine by gravity only. Today Branaire Ducru is undoubtedly producing some of the finest wines in St Julien. They also have one of the most impressive second wines, the Duluc de Branaire Ducru, which has been made since 1988.

Duluc tends to be made from specific parcels of the vineyard and with some younger vines. The blend comprises mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with small quantities of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc and spend 12 months in barrels before bottling. It’s made very much in the spirit of the “Grand Vin” and is a charming example of the appellation.
