WAYFARER

SONOMA

Wayfarer Vineyard is extraordinary, set in a dramatic landscape of undulating slopes hidden among winding mountain roads and redwoods, swathing a ridge on the north western reach of the Sonoma Coast at 1,100 feet, just 4 miles from the Pacific Ocean. This remote landscape is the provenance of wildly beautiful wines born of risk, rigor and mastery – small-lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on goldridge soil.

Renowned vineyard developer David Abreu designed the vineyard as 30 one-acre blocks, each dedicated to an individual clone. Ten years after the vineyard was planted, Cleo, founder Jayson Pahlmeyer’s daughter, introduced the first Wayfarer Vineyard wines in 2012 with Todd Kohn as winemaker.

The range of Pinot Noirs showcases the exceptional Wayfarer Vineyard, five Pinots are crafted all from the same site. There is incredible diversity between the different pinot noir clones and blocks, each wine has such a unique taste profile and personality.

Chardonnay – Each block is handpicked and delivered firm, cool clusters to the winery before sunrise. After gentle pressing, the wine is settled for 24 hours, followed by carefully-monitored racking of the juice to barrel. Native yeasts slowly guided alcoholic fermentation, with careful batonnage until malolactic fermentation is complete.

The Pinots are handpicked, the cool clusters are delivered to the winery before sunrise. The grapes are hand-sorted and de-stemmed before
transferring to tank, where five to seven days of cold maceration preceded more than two weeks of 100% native yeast fermentation.

Wayfarer Vineyard Pinot Noir – The free-run wine was transferred to 58% new French oak from cooperages including François Frères, Rousseau, and Remond for 15 months of ageing.

Golden Mean Pinot Noir – A balance of opposites, this wine is a blend of Pommard and Swan clones. Pommard brings strength in texture and powerful aromatics, while Swan encapsulates elegance with ethereal floral expressions. The free run wine was transferred to 33% new French oak for 15 months of ageing.

Mother Rock Pinot Noir – A co-fermentation of Mount Eden and Dijon clones. We hand-picked each block and delivered firm, cool clusters to
the winery before sunrise. The free run wine was transferred to 67% new French oak for 15 months of ageing.

The Traveler Pinot Noir – From vine cuttings that travelled across the Atlantic, this is our most vibrant Pinot Noir. We hand-picked each block
and delivered firm, cool clusters to the winery before sunrise. The free run wine was transferred to 67% new French oak for 15 months of ageing.
