CHAMPAGNE LUCIEN COLLARD
Bouzy
The Collard family settled in Bouzy in 1919 through the marriage of the Lucien Collard and Julia Bara. She came from a family of winegrowers who had settled in this Grand Cru since 1833.
Auriane the God Daughter of the most recent Collard, also named Lucien (who sadly passed away recently), now creates fabulous champagnes from the 2 hectares of vines, 1 in Bouzy and 1 in Celles sur Ource in the Aube.
She maintains strict quality standards to ensure maximum respect for the terroir. Vines are treated with organic products (with supplements borrowed from biodynamic farming), they limit the use of sulphur, low dosage and extended ageing time to maintain top quality throughout. Prior to joining Lucien, Auriane spent a year with Jacqueson.
Their Extra Brut comprises 30% Chardonnay and 70% Pinot Noir with a dosage of 5g/L. The Brut Nature also has 30% Chardonnay and 70% Pinot Noir but with zero dosage and limited sulphur, they both spend three years in the bottle. The Millesime 2014 is a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay with just 4g/L dosage. The Blanc de Noirs is extremely limited and very delicious.
