Thorman Hunt is delighted to announce its appointment as the exclusive UK importer for Platt Vineyard, an exceptional Californian estate owned by AXA Millésimes. 

Over the past decades, AXA Millésimes has built one of the world’s most remarkable vineyard portfolios, guided by Christian Seely, whose expertise brings their vision to life. The estate also collaborates with renowned consulting winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown to create their wines. 

Lewis E. Platt planted the vineyard in 2003–2004, working with top winemakers and viticulturalists to produce California’s best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Esteemed producers like Littorai and Rivers-Marie have made wines from Platt-grown grapes.

Less than 6 miles from the Pacific Ocean on a sunny, south-facing ridgeline, Platt Vineyard benefits from a maritime climate. Cooler days and warmer nights allow slow, even ripening while preserving acidity, while radiant sun ensures full phenolic maturity at restrained alcohol levels. Frequent fog moderates temperature extremes and moistens vines and surrounding Redwoods. Coastal hills buffer intense winds into cooling breezes while funneling fog and salty air across the vineyard.  

Platt Vineyard Estate Chardonnay is a vibrant, racy expression of the Platt Vineyard terroir. Layers of citrus and orchard fruits unfold with clarity, balanced by a crisp, saline finish. Its lifted tones and crystalline texture capture the purity of the Sonoma Coast, evoking the freshness of a cool coastal breeze. This wine is made from Old Wente and 72 clones and is aged for 14 months in 228-litre French oak barrels, 35% new and 65% used.

Platt Vineyard Estate Reserve Chardonnay comes from mature vines in three select blocks, chosen for their depth and mineral precision. Ripe citrus and stone fruits are layered with floral lift and a finely coiled structure, creating a concentrated yet balanced wine that finishes with saline minerality and impressive length. It is made from the Old Wente clone and aged for 14 months in 228-litre French oak barrels, 33% new and 67% used.

Platt Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir is blended from the most expressive lots across the vineyard, the Estate Pinot Noir captures the radiant energy and aromatic diversity of the site. Bright red and blue fruits mingle with fresh berries, subtle savoury notes, and coastal herbs, producing a lively, detailed, and texturally refined palate. This wine is made from Pommard, 777, 828, and Swan clones and aged for 14 months in 228-litre French oak barrels, 35% new and 65% used.

Platt Vineyard Estate Reserve Pinot Noir is drawn from blocks that combine power with freshness, with the Calera clone at its core. Deeply coloured and intensely expressive, it offers dense dark fruit, precise structure, and a lifted, elegant finish. Focused and pure, it conveys the vineyard’s coastal intensity and exceptional clarity of terroir. The blend includes Calera, Pommard, 777, and 115 clones, aged for 14 months in 228-litre French oak barrels, 34% new and 66% used.
