Domaine Christophe Mittnacht TERRES D’ETOILES
HUNAWIHR
This domaine is run by Christophe and his charming wife Yuka, a talented Japanese chef. Some years ago, Christophe separated from his cousin Marc and the 20 or so hectares of Domaine Mittnacht Frères were equally split. They own and farm some of the finest sites around Ribeauvillé and Hunawihr, including the Grand Cru Rosacker and Grand Cru Osterberg (source of the fabled Clos Ste Hune and Cuvée Emile). They were one of the first domaines in Alsace to convert to biodynamic viticulture in 1999. Christophe believes in minimum intervention, and allowing the soil to express the minerality of each terroir. These wines are super gastronomical, pure fruit, sharp acidity and lovely minerality.
The Cuvée Gyotaku was originally made for the Japanese market. It has now become Christophe’s best selling wine. The 2025 vintage tasted at the Domaine in May 2026, was really good – a real mix of many grape varieties, Riesling, Pinot Auxerrois, Muscat, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris.
In 2025 Christophe acquired an additional 2.5 hectares around Riquewihr, including some Grand Cru Schoenenbourg. Exciting!
We are adding Christophe’s bone dry Crémant Extra Brut made from Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Auxerrois and Chardonnay. Also, his interesting orange wine Crépuscule, a blend of 70% Gewurztraminer, 25% Chasselas and 5% Riesling.
