CHÂTEAU D’AQUERIA
TAVEL
This leading property of 70 hectares, situated just outside the village of Tavel, has now been purchased by Guigal, but is being kept very separate from the parent team in Ampuis. Great investment is apparent and the new impressive Director Ralph Garcin and Catherine Nilly who have worked for the previous owners, the de Bez family, make a delightful and formidable team. The wines are now top in class!
Approximately 60% of the vineyard is devoted to Tavel Rosé and they also make small quantities of Lirac Rouge, Lirac Blanc and Côtes du Rhône. A good proportion of the of the vineyard remains wild garrigue which is perfect for the environment.
The Tavel is made of an interesting mixed variety of grapes: Grenache Noir and Blanc, Clairette, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Bourboulenc and Picpoul. The Lirac Blanc is a mix of Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc, Clairette, Roussanne and Viognier. This Tavel is ideal to match with food. Try it with pink lamb, oysters or lobster! Delicious!
