CHÂTEAU SIRAN
MARGAUX
Siran is a little gem in Margaux and the wines are beautiful. Château Siran has 25 hectares under vine with an average age of 30 years. The soil type is alluvial sandy gravel and the blend generally comprises 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. After fermentation in stainless steel vats, the wine spends 12-14 months in barriques; about 60-70% are new each year.
Saint Jacques de Siran is made at Château Siran. 13 hectares are under vine in the Margaux villages of Labarde and Cantenac. The soil is heavier than at Siran but it is still one of the best poor man’s Margaux around and a great bargain! The vines average 25 years old and the blend comprises 80% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
