BODEGAS LACUS

Lacus is situated in the most easterly village in the Rioja Baja and is owned by Luis Arnedo. He owns 15 hectares across 7 parcels including a number of old vine parcels, planted by his grandfather. Luis works closely with his consultant and fellow winemaker, Frenchman Olivier Rivère, to produce some of the most exciting and innovative wines from Rioja Baja. Total production is just 20,000 bottles across the four wines of his Inedito (unpublished) range. All the wines have wonderful purity and freshness which defy the heat and default style of the region.

Inédito Turrax Blanco A unique vineyard blend. This single vineyard (0.6 hectare) blend of Maturana Blanca (6 hectares in all Rioja) and Turruntés, 70% is aged in old French oak for 5 months.

Inédito Blanco Garnacha Blanca (there are only a few examples in Rioja, all of them relatively new) made with 50-year-old vines picked individually from a mixed field and aged for seven months in barrel. Bottled unfiltered.

Inédito 3/3 (Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano) A lively, juicy red with very bright fruit. 8 months in tank and plastic egg on the lees. No oak.

Inedito Cuvee S (60% Graciano and 40% Garnacha) The flagship red is aged 50% in 500 litre barrique for 12/14 months and 50% with 2 months in egg. The result is a big, fresh, black fruited, spicey red of great purity and length.
